Festival Ethics & House Rules

  • Respect the vibe. Feel free to film your experience at the festival, but please keep your phone brightness low and do not use any flash.
  • Filming in the Boiler Room stage is not allowed.
  • We’ve got our own media team. As specified in our T & C, by attending you consent to being photographed, filmed or featured.
  • We understand that some attendees may require medication for medical conditions. We allow physician-prescribed medication that has not expired. If you have such medication, you must show the physician’s prescription and consult with a security officer upon entry.

Awareness

If you feel overwhelmed or require a secure environment, head to the awareness tent. The team is there to help you.

You may want to go to the main entrance or merch store and ask one of our door staff, they’ll guide you to the awareness tent.

  • Our dance floors are a sacred safe space for everyone. Any dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Be respectful to others. Consent is the key word.
  • If you are feeling unwell, take a step back. Get your friends to ask for help
  • Keep yourself hydrated
  • Paramedics are also available throughout our events
  • Look out for the Awareness team onsite, they will be roaming the festival (wearing navy blue tees), you can also drop by their tent.
  • Get some rest, the festival days are long party days. It’s important to re-energize between one day and the other.
  • Don’t forget to go home. Staying up and dancing for long hours is not an endurance contest. Listen to your body and make sure to give it a rest.

Harm Reduction & Care Guide

This Care guide has been prepared in collaboration with Harm Reduction Malta & People on Dancefloors.

I am here to have fun, why should I care about risks?

  • Keep hydrated – alcohol is not a great way to keep your body flawlessly dancing through the day and night. Make sure you drink water and remind your friends. You could also alternate between booze and soft drinks. It’s also a great idea to add mineral salts (electrolytes) to your drink at the end of the night to hydrate! Helps reduce the negative effects of a hangover every time.
  • Be respectful to others – Going to festivals is all about making new friendships and connections. Yet, always respect other people’s personal space and ask for mutual consent. a No will always mean a no.
  • Do your research and know your stuff – Check out important websites such as Drugs and Me, and Pill Reports providing educational material, updated information and warnings. You can also download the KnowDrugs app and have a handy tool throughout the night. Beware that although images might match, the pharmacological contents could still be different. Always adopt the Start Low – Go-Slow principle.
  • Don’t forget to go home – Staying up and dancing for long hours is not an endurance contest. Listen to your body and make sure to give it a rest. Let friends know you wish to go home and make sure you KNOW the person accompanying you back home. Always catch a ride with a registered taxi or the festival bus. The next day, eat a healthy meal, go for a walk or swim.

I must have overdone it this time, I am not feeling too well. My vision is blurred, my heart is beating fast, and I feel hot flushes.

Do the right thing and Stop!

Seek help from your friends and explain what you are feeling. Ask your friend to take you to a less crowded and better ventilated area. Concentrate on your breathing and drink small sips of water. Ask your friend to stay with you for the entire time. Remember, this is probably a temporary effect, and the unwanted symptoms will soon start to lessen. IMPORTANTLY, do not consume any substance (including caffeine) for the rest of the time. Give your body time to rebalance and refocus. If after some time you still feel unwell, seek medical attention by one of our health buddies. If in doubt, ALWAYS call for medical assistance, this WILL NOT get you into trouble!

One last word of advice: less is always more.

I keep on being followed by a person making sexual advances and trying to touch me. I am now too afraid to get back onto the dancefloor.

This type of abusive culture will not be tolerated at Glitch Festival! If you encounter a similar experience, approach one of our security personnel and report the incident. You can also reach out to the Awareness Team wearing a navy blue shirt. They are here for your safety and happiness too. Don’t forget to be an active bystander! We are one family, don’t be afraid to report any incidents you observe, and help a fellow clubber in need.

Most importantly be respectful and make sure the festival is a great experience for yourselves and everyone around you.

Be careful if you are redosing, some substances take longer to kick-in. Prevent a hang over by limiting alcohol intake. Make use of the links in this guide to educate yourself about the risks associated with poly-drug use. Take care of your ears, pick up a pair of free ear plugs from the festival merch stand or gates upon entry. Remember to carry condoms with you.

We are here promote welfare and safety on the dancefloor.

Think Twice! Don’t Drink & Drive

Do not drive under the influence of any substances. Driving while impaired can have serious consequences for both you and others on the road. Do the right thing and choose a safe method of transport. Pre-book our festival bus or take a taxi.

This also means the some stages may reach capacity at times during the festival. If a stage is full, you may be restricted from entering to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. If a stage has reached capacity, we will use a one-out, one-in policy, and you may experience queuing and waiting times.

We suggest planning ahead and arriving at the stage early if there are any acts you really want to see. Here’s a link to the festival timetable.
